Café Botanik in Goettingen

nice eatery, delicious coffee. I like to spend time in peace. Recommendable!

So ... to be very clear, this cafe / restaurant is really an insult to Persian cuisine. There is no Persian friendliness there (you really feel unwelcome), nor was the food good. That went so far that not even the coffee tasted good. You weren't greeted and after a long wait you had to tell the waiter that you would like to order. Price / performance total flop !! Not recommendable.

Breakfast very good. Delicious Persian snacks and good coffee. Personal recommendation: tea from the samovar and a piece of homemade saffron cake.

Nice location, inviting. Unfortunately, coffee tasted very stale, slightly burnt and sour. The inside of the milk carafe was visibly dirty. On Saturday only one waitress was responsible for our area (estimated 12 tables), which led to a longer waiting time.

We were there twice this week. The tables were not wiped with disinfectant and no contact details were noted. The iced coffee tasted like it was from the Tetra Pack. The alcohol-free wheat was served lukewarm.

Plus: Lovely and cosy place near the botanical garden, friendly English speaking staff, good beer. Neutral: We were excited about the Iranian / Persian food - in the end it was OK, but not excellent. My partner would rate his lamb dish as 6 - 7 out of 10. I had an artichoke dish - overall OK, but could have been seasoned better, sauce was too runny and the artichoke would have been better if not pickled - so also about 6 out of 10. And they had ran out of Shiraz, what a pity... However, overall nice and cosy experience - and if they improve the food just a little bit, it will be superb.

We recommend! We have been regulars at Alibaba since 1994. Every time we were welcomed in a very friendly manner and spent many wonderful hours enjoying good Persian cuisine. Even before the restaurant closed, we visited the Café Botanik several times, which has now taken over a few traditional Persian dishes from the Alibaba. We were only there yesterday. Conclusion: very nice service, very tasty dishes and a very good chef. A big thank you to Manoucher and his team

Super cozy café with delicious food, in good weather you can make yourself comfortable outside. We eat breakfast here regularly and have never been disappointed. The staff is very friendly.

Nice location which is located directly in the old botanical garden. If you want to eat something delicious or have a good coffee before or after a tour of this, this is the place for you. The space is generous - even with two free seats. The interior is rustic and cozy. The service is always helpful and courteous.

Food delicious, drinks great if you get involved. Staff is always very friendly anyway. I think the atmosphere is great, you can spend your time here.

Food is delicious, coffee tastes good and the cake looks fresh and delicious. The staff is only a little overwhelmed when the restaurant is full and messing up orders. However, it is forgivable and action is taken quickly. Tables are unfortunately a bit small for several people, but when you move together it's cozy.

It was just great, my wife had a pumpkin soup and we homemade tomato soup, totally delicious. There was also cocoa and tea. Service very friendly. Ambience really cool. Prices okay. We recommend. We will definitely be back

Great place with great food

Cozy place. It's nice that its close to the botanical garden, in Spring/early summer it is lovely to sit outside and smell all the flower aromas flying by. Try the 'Persischer Traum' if you are there. Soy milk is available if you are looking to veganise things :]

Utterly charming small café with very good food and the most amazing spiced chai latte -- which came in a soup bowl! A dream!

Coffee was so, so but the croissant was a fail. Not flaky at all.

Food was delicious but the hot lime with honey was not really good. It’s a cozy place for lunchtime.

Good food, nice selection of continental breakfast and eastern cuisine. Prices are all right, the service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere is very cozy. Highly recommend ordering one of the tea specialties.

I regularly come here, mainly because of the nice summer terrace and location next to the Botanical garden. I find the friendliness of the service and the quality of food vary a lot depending on the personnel! Didn't like the wrap I ordered - totally cold and tasting bland and heartless. However another time I did enjoy some of the more persian dishes and drinks they serve. (However also the way they serve persian tea -i.e. Persischer Traum- highly depends on the personnel.. more milk, or stronger on the tea). I still like it well enough to return sometimes but would recommend the staff to be trained a bit more so quality remains constant!

It is a very cozy place and their chai bowls are a must-have, they bring it with a jar of honey so you can make it as sweet as you want. I've tried only vegetarian options there, for different rolls and burgers and the portions are huge and the food is OK. However, I personally wouldn't go there for the cakes. I've only gotten quite dry and plain ones.
